Mobile phones with dual front cameras

The smartphone, mobile phones,  camera is perhaps more important than the ability to make calls, and the camera on the front of the smartphone is ever popular for its abilities to take self-portraits. More recently, smartphones have also started coming with dual cameras on the front, where the secondary camera can be anything from an ultrawide sensor to one dedicated just for portraits. Here are some good smartphones available on Amazon with dual front cameras.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ 

The Samsung Galaxy S10+ is a premium offering from the Korean giant and offers a host of cutting-edge features including a marvellous AMOLED display, and a triple camera setup at the back. But what it also offers is a dual-camera setup on the front. A 10MP primary selfie shooter combined with another 8MP secondary shooter, both drilled into the display within punched holes. While the 10MP primary camera is used for the usual selfie photos and videos, the 8MP secondary camera activates when you’re taking a portrait selfie. The second sensor is used to capture depth information to help with sharper edges along with the object and creamier bokeh at the background, making selfies look good and professional. 

Oppo Reno3 Pro

The Oppo Reno3 Pro offers the largest selfie camera available on a smartphone so far, a giant 44MP sensor is drilled into the top corner of the display, which is coupled with another 2MP depth sensor. The primary shooter uses the pixel binning technology to shoot detailed portrait photos. It also relies on algorithms to control the harsh backlight, and improve facial details. The second sensor comes into play while taking a portrait photo. The camera is also capable of shooting portrait videos using the two cameras on the front. 

Vivo V19

With a 32MP camera on the front, the Vivo V19 can easily be called an expert in taking selfies. It not only gives you the option to have highly detailed self-portraits, but an 8MP ultrawide camera also manages to cram more people into the frame for a group selfie, making the phone quite versatile. The Vivo V19 can also take portraits, night selfies and portrait videos. 

Realme 6 Pro

The Realme 6 Pro comes with two cameras on the front, both cut out for different functions. The primary 16MP shooter is used for the regular selfie shots, with the ability to capture HDR selfies, as well as record videos. The second 8MP shooter comes into action when you have to include a lot more people into the frame for a group selfie. The second camera offers a wider field of view for just that. It also lets you fit in that building you’re trying to take a selfie in front of. The Realme 6 Pro is also quite affordably priced and is one of the few smartphones in this price range to offer two cameras on the front.

Old phone to recycle? In France, just drop it in the mail

Paris (AFP) - Figuring out what to do with an old mobile phone just got easier in France, where people can now send them free in the mail to have them recycled or refurbished for sale by a charity group.

An estimated 50 to 110 million phones are languishing in drawers across the country, since recycling options are not always straightforward and many people worry the personal data they store might still be accessible.

Ecosystem, the NGO behind the project, said people could order a pre-paid envelope from its website jedonnemontelephone.fr (I give my phone) or simply print out a pre-paid address label.

The phones are sent to a processing centre where all data is erased before the phone is either refurbished for sale at Emmaus charity shops, or in the majority of cases (83 percent) broken down for recyling and the removal of the most polluting components.

Ecosystem said Monday that it plans to distribute 100 reconditioned phones from the scheme during each of the 35 stages of this year's Tour de France cycling race that begins on August 29.

The project is an expansion of the nonprofit's main electronics recycling programmes that aim to keep appliances and other devices from incinerators or landfill sites.

In June, it collected a record 62,000 tonnes of material as people cleared out their homes after two months of coronavirus lockdown.
